Bio 3.5.1 Historical Development and Changing Nature of Classification Systems
- Earliest attempt of classification is back towards ancient philosophers in Greece and India
- Charaka was the first one to actually make an attempt and recorded 340 plants and 200 animals
- Aristotle did a lot of classification in an earlier time
- At first we mad classification systems and did not realize evolution was an on going thing
- Since there is evolution we are trying to put similar animals together in groups yet still have a somewhat different name
- The classification system changes so much due to the fact everything is evolving and there are species still being discovered

Bio 3.5.2 Classification of Organisms According to Evolutionary Relationships
- Dichotomous Key- A key for the identification of organisms based on a series of choices between alternative characters
- Phylogenetic Tree- A diagram showing the evolutionary interrelations of a group of organisms derived from a common ancestral form
